▸ Pre-arrival planning

Before you book.

Best season. October to April for evening safari — comfortable temperatures, dramatic sunsets, peak BBQ + show atmosphere. May to September shifts the recommendation to morning safari only because evening sand stays hot until midnight.

Booking lead time. Same-day bookings available until 11:00 for evening safaris. Sunset slots fill 1-2 days ahead October-April. Group bookings 8+ pax need 24-48 hours notice. Private safaris with add-ons need 48 hours.

Family planning. Kids 0-2 ride free on parent's lap. Kids 3-12 pay child rate. Teens 13+ pay adult rate. Family Safari Package bundles 2A + 2C at saver rate.

Dietary requirements. Halal meat across the buffet. Vegetarian options always available. Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-allergy handled with notice — message us on WhatsApp at booking.

▸ Day-of expectations

What to expect.

Pickup. Land Cruiser arrives at hotel reception. Tell your driver where to find you (lobby, valet, side entrance). 45-minute drive to Lahbab via E66.

Dune bashing. Tyre pressure dropped at the access point, safety briefing covers what to expect on dune climbs. 30-minute roller-coaster route through Lahbab's mid-grade ridges. Photo stop at the high crest at golden hour.

Camp arrival. Welcome with karak chai or Arabic coffee, dates. Henna painting station opens. Photographer at the Arabic dress photo opportunity.

Camel ride. Short tame-camel ride. Camels are large but gentle; the handler lifts kids on while the camel sits. Most kids 4+ enjoy it.

Sandboarding. Soft dune face. Boards available at the camp. Kids and adults welcome; experience not needed.

BBQ buffet. 19:30-20:45. Veg + non-veg, unlimited soft drinks, tea, coffee, water.

Shows. 19:45 belly dance. 20:15 tanoura whirler. 20:45 fire show.

Drop-off. 21:30 hotel return. Marina hotels first, downtown last.

Drove the Can-Am Maverick X3 out at Lahbab and it felt brand new — no rattles, sharp throttle, and the guide kept a proper pace up the dunes without ever losing sight of us.

Booked the evening safari with my in-laws and the BBQ camp exceeded expectations. Fire show and belly dance were a genuine highlight, not just filler.

Sunrise balloon flight was the calmest hour of our whole Dubai trip. Pickup was on time even at 4:30am, which I honestly didn't expect.

Took the 2-seater Polaris RZR for a 1-hour ride, first time ever driving anything off-road. Briefing was thorough enough that I stopped being nervous within ten minutes.

Our kids did the quad biking 90cc track while we took the Raptor 700 — genuinely worked for a mixed-age family group, nobody was bored or scared.

Camel ride at JBR beach with the skyline behind us made for the best photo of the whole holiday. Handler was patient with my grandmother getting on and off.

KTM 450 session at Lahbab was exactly what I wanted — real dune riding, not a padded beginner loop. Guide pushed the pace once he saw I could handle it.

WhatsApp booking took maybe four messages total. Confirmed same afternoon for a private evening Land Cruiser the next day.

Four-seater buggy fit my whole family for one price, which saved us from booking two separate 2-seaters. Guide was patient teaching my teenager the controls.

Second time booking with them, this time the deluxe balloon package with the falcon show after landing. Breakfast spread was better than most hotel buffets.

Morning desert safari with the ATV add-on was the right call for us — cooler temps, shorter day, and the quad section broke up the drive nicely.

Never driven anything with a roll cage before. The Can-Am X3 RS Turbo RR was a lot more buggy than I expected in the best way, big grin the whole ride.

Sunset camel ride photos came out stunning, the light at that hour on the dunes is unreal. Worth timing the booking around golden hour specifically.

Yamaha 220cc quad was a great entry point for my wife who's never ridden anything before. Guide stayed right behind her the entire 30 minutes.

Private morning safari meant no waiting on other tourists, driver adjusted the route based on how much dune bashing our kids could actually handle.

2-hour Can-Am ride out to Fossil Rock was worth every extra dirham over the shorter slot, terrain out there is completely different from Lahbab.

Group of eight of us booked the multi-buggy convoy for a friend's bachelor weekend, lead and sweep guides kept everyone together without slowing the fast riders down.

Booked the Big Red location specifically for the steeper climbs and it delivered. Not a ride for a first-timer but exactly what an experienced group wanted.

Cancelled once due to a flight change and got a full refund with zero hassle since we gave more than four days notice. Good sign of how the whole business runs.

Al Qudra location was noticeably gentler than what friends described at Lahbab, made it the right pick for my first ever buggy session.

Went with the flagship 4-seater Can-Am for a family trip, kids loved it and the guide never rushed us between photo stops.

The premium hot air balloon combo with the Can-Am ride afterward made for a genuinely packed but well-organized day, transfers were seamless between the two.

Quad biking at Big Red with the Grizzly was the most physical thing we did in Dubai. Genuinely tired afterward in a good way.

Standard sharing balloon flight was calm and unhurried, exactly as described, no upsell pressure once we were airborne.

Turbo Polaris RZR gave noticeably more punch than the standard 1000cc we tried the day before, worth the upgrade if you've already got a baseline.

Evening safari BBQ buffet had a genuinely good vegetarian spread, not just an afterthought like some other operators we checked.

Booked the couple package on a whim for our anniversary, sunset photo stop was arranged without us even asking for it.

KTM dirt bike skill-check at the start was a fair way to gauge riders before letting anyone loose on the open dunes.

Fossil Rock 2-hour buggy route was the highlight of our whole trip to the UAE, rockier scenery than the usual red dunes photos.

CClara Dubois

Raptor 700 quad had real torque climbing the dune faces near Big Red, felt like a different activity entirely from the entry-level 220cc.

Group discount for our party of ten on the desert safari made the whole outing more affordable than booking through our hotel concierge.

Family package with the 4-seater buggy meant my parents could ride along without needing to drive themselves, everyone still got the dune experience.

Private evening Land Cruiser felt worth the premium over the shared safari once we saw how much space and pace flexibility we actually got.

Beach camel ride at JBR was a nice low-key add-on before our desert day, handler let us take as long as we wanted for photos.

Motocross track session was a good alternative to open dunes for practicing technique before we tried the full Lahbab dirt bike route.
