▸ Why this is the bestseller

Standard explained.

The Standard Sunrise Flight is the entry tier and accounts for around 60% of all balloon bookings in Dubai. Price covers the actual flight experience without the breakfast camp add-on — perfect for travellers who want the balloon ride itself without committing a half-day.

You share a basket with other passengers (typically 12-20 in total). The pilot manages altitude with burner controls; the basket drifts with prevailing winds. Flight duration is 60 minutes give or take a few minutes depending on wind speed and direction. Maximum altitude is around 2,000 feet on a calm morning.

What you see: the sun cresting the horizon, orange dunes lighting up below, the Hajar mountains in the east, and on very clear days the Dubai skyline silhouette in the north-west. The light hour from 06:00-07:30 is the strongest visual window of the entire programme — bring a phone or camera with charged battery.

▸ Included + excluded

All-in checklist.

  • Free Dubai hotel pickup + drop-off
  • 1-hour sunrise balloon flight
  • DTCM-licensed certified pilot
  • Pre-flight safety briefing
  • Light refreshments at launch site
  • Flight certificate
  • Post-flight transfer

Not included: breakfast at desert camp (deluxe tier adds this for AED 100 more), camel ride at the camp, falcon show, video footage (AED 2,000 add-on), birthday banner (AED 700 add-on).

▸ Itinerary

5-hour programme.

04:00 – 05:00

Hotel pickup

Air-conditioned vehicle. Pickup window varies by season — earlier in summer, later in winter.

05:30

Launch site arrival

Margham desert. Watch the team unfurl and inflate the envelope. Safety briefing.

05:50 – 06:50

60-minute flight

Sunrise climb to ~2,000 ft, drift across the Margham dunes, slow descent.

07:00

Landing + certificate

Touch-down at a recovery point. Certificate handed out, photos with the basket.

08:30 – 09:00

Hotel drop-off

Back at your hotel by 09:00. Day still ahead of you.

▸ Compare with deluxe

Standard vs deluxe.

Standard AED 1,049. Pure flight experience. Hotel back by 09:00. Best for travellers who want the balloon ride without a half-day commitment, or who plan another Dubai activity for the morning.

Deluxe AED 1,149 (+AED 100). Same flight + post-landing breakfast at the desert camp + 10-minute camel ride + falcon show. Hotel back by 10:00-10:30. Best for travellers who want the desert camp experience folded into the same morning.

For most first-time visitors, deluxe is the better value pick — AED 100 more for an extra 90 minutes of curated experience. For repeat visitors who've already done the camel + falcon programme, standard delivers the flight without redundant add-ons.

▸ Booking notes — Standard flight

Pickup, weather, what to expect.

Pickup window: pre-dawn collect from any Dubai hotel, typically 04:00–04:30 from Marina/JBR/Palm, slightly later from Downtown/Business Bay/DIFC. Driver name + plate number + direct WhatsApp contact confirmed the day before. Expect ~45-minute drive to the Margham launch field. Pre-flight briefing + tea/coffee at the launch site before crew prep the basket.

Weather window for Standard flights runs October to early May. Within the season, individual flights cancel if surface winds exceed safe limits or visibility drops — the operator's pilot makes the call by ~03:00 on the morning of and notifies guests via WhatsApp. Cancelled flights reschedule to the next available slot or refund per the standard cancellation policy.

What to bring: closed-toe shoes, light jacket or fleece (Margham 05:00 sits ~12–15°C in winter), sunglasses for post-sunrise return, sunscreen, camera or phone with wrist-strap. Loose hats without chin-straps and dangling jewellery move quickly under the burner heat — leave them at the hotel.

Standard tier delivers the flight itself — sunrise drift over the Margham desert, ~60 minutes airtime, hotel pickup and drop-off — without the post-landing breakfast/camel/falcon programme that Deluxe and Premium add. Suits guests who want the flight as one segment of a multi-component Dubai day rather than the morning's full programme.

▸ FAQ — Standard flight

Common questions.

What's included in the standard package?+
1-hour sunrise balloon flight in a shared basket, hotel pickup and drop-off, pre-flight refreshments at the launch site, flight certificate, and post-flight transfer. No breakfast or camp activities included on standard tier — those come with deluxe and premium.
How many people share the basket?+
Standard baskets typically carry 12-20 passengers depending on the operator's vessel. The pilot stands at the centre with the burner; passengers stand around the edge. There's space for everyone to see the horizon clearly.
What time is pickup?+
04:00-05:00 from your Dubai hotel depending on season. Earlier in summer (sunrise around 05:35), later in winter (sunrise around 06:30). Confirmed on WhatsApp the evening before.
How early should I book?+
1-2 weeks ahead in peak December-February. Same-day or next-day usually OK on weekdays. Sunset and Friday morning slots fill faster than weekday mornings.
Is breakfast included?+
Not on the standard package. Light refreshments (juice, water, tea, dates) at the launch site. For full breakfast + camel + falcon, upgrade to the deluxe package at AED 1,149.
What's the child price?+
AED 999 per child age 5-12. Below age 5 we don't accept passengers. Children must be accompanied by an adult guardian in the basket.
Can I get a window seat?+
There are no allocated seats — everyone stands at the basket edge facing outward. The basket rotates slowly on calm mornings, giving every passenger time at every direction.

Drove the Can-Am Maverick X3 out at Lahbab and it felt brand new — no rattles, sharp throttle, and the guide kept a proper pace up the dunes without ever losing sight of us.

Booked the evening safari with my in-laws and the BBQ camp exceeded expectations. Fire show and belly dance were a genuine highlight, not just filler.

Sunrise balloon flight was the calmest hour of our whole Dubai trip. Pickup was on time even at 4:30am, which I honestly didn't expect.

Took the 2-seater Polaris RZR for a 1-hour ride, first time ever driving anything off-road. Briefing was thorough enough that I stopped being nervous within ten minutes.

Our kids did the quad biking 90cc track while we took the Raptor 700 — genuinely worked for a mixed-age family group, nobody was bored or scared.

Camel ride at JBR beach with the skyline behind us made for the best photo of the whole holiday. Handler was patient with my grandmother getting on and off.

KTM 450 session at Lahbab was exactly what I wanted — real dune riding, not a padded beginner loop. Guide pushed the pace once he saw I could handle it.

Four-seater buggy fit my whole family for one price, which saved us from booking two separate 2-seaters. Guide was patient teaching my teenager the controls.

Second time booking with them, this time the deluxe balloon package with the falcon show after landing. Breakfast spread was better than most hotel buffets.

Morning desert safari with the ATV add-on was the right call for us — cooler temps, shorter day, and the quad section broke up the drive nicely.

Never driven anything with a roll cage before. The Can-Am X3 RS Turbo RR was a lot more buggy than I expected in the best way, big grin the whole ride.

Sunset camel ride photos came out stunning, the light at that hour on the dunes is unreal. Worth timing the booking around golden hour specifically.

Yamaha 220cc quad was a great entry point for my wife who's never ridden anything before. Guide stayed right behind her the entire 30 minutes.

2-hour Can-Am ride out to Fossil Rock was worth every extra dirham over the shorter slot, terrain out there is completely different from Lahbab.

Booked the Big Red location specifically for the steeper climbs and it delivered. Not a ride for a first-timer but exactly what an experienced group wanted.
