29 Honest Questions

Read this before booking.

If you don't see your question, send a WhatsApp message - average reply under three minutes during operating hours.

Do I need a motorcycle licence to ride the KTM 450?+

Yes - a valid motorcycle licence from any country is required, plus prior off-road or dirt-bike experience. We confirm your background on WhatsApp before accepting the booking.

Is dirt biking suitable for first-timers?+

Honestly, no. KTM 450 SX-F is an advanced-rider machine. If this is your first time on any motorcycle, please consider a quad bike or self-drive dune buggy instead - both are far more enjoyable for new riders.

What is the minimum age?+

21 years and over for KTM 450 sessions. Younger riders with verified MX history can be considered case-by-case but are usually directed to track-only sessions with stricter coaching.

How long is a session?+

Standard durations are 30 minutes (AED 850), 1 hour (AED 1,250) and 2 hours (AED 1,450). Sessions over 2 hours are quoted on WhatsApp because the route and support setup change.

Where do I meet?+

At the Lahbab Desert camp, around 40 minutes south-east of Downtown Dubai. We share a Google Maps pin in the WhatsApp confirmation. Hotel pickup is not included on dirt-bike-only bookings.

What gear is included?+

DOT-rated full-face helmet, motocross goggles, gloves, the bike fuelled and ready, the safety briefing and a lead-sweep guide. Closed shoes are required - boots strongly preferred.

Can I bring my own helmet or goggles?+

Yes, as long as your helmet meets DOT or equivalent safety standards. Bring your own boots and knee braces if you have them - especially for longer sessions.

How does damage liability work on the bike?+

Damage caused by misuse, crashes, off-route lines, late return or rule violations remains the rider's responsibility under the rental agreement. Coverage details vary by booking format and are explained in the WhatsApp confirmation before the session.

What if I crash?+

Stay still if injured, signal if not, and the sweep guide will reach you. We carry first-aid and a recovery vehicle for the camp area. Damage from a crash is rider responsibility under the rental rules.

Do you have smaller-cc dirt bikes?+

We currently focus on the KTM 450 SX-F as the dirt-bike fleet. If you want a lower-cc option, please consider quad biking instead - we run Yamaha 220cc, 400cc, Grizzly and Raptor 700 quads on the same dunes.

Can I ride on a public road?+

No. Dirt bikes are desert and track only. Riding on public roads, highways, private property or protected reserves is not allowed and is grounds for ending the session immediately.

What is the cancellation policy?+

Standard non-group bookings follow this schedule: 96+ hours before scheduled departure = no cancellation fee. 72+ hours before scheduled departure = 50% cancellation fee. Under 24 hours / same-day / no-show = 100% cancellation fee. Weather or safety cancellations from our team are rescheduled or refunded according to the service rules.

What if the weather is bad?+

If our team cancels because of sandstorm, heavy rain, low visibility or other safety reasons, you can reschedule to the next open slot or request a refund according to the service rules. We do not run dirt bikes in unsafe conditions.

Can I bring spectators?+

A small number of spectators is fine at the camp. They cannot enter the riding area. Please keep the group size sensible so we can supervise riders properly.

Do you offer photography?+

A simple WhatsApp photo is included in the rate. Professional photographer or drone shoots are quoted separately - send your request on WhatsApp.

Is hotel pickup available?+

Hotel pickup is not standard on dirt-bike-only bookings. If you want a private 4x4 transfer from your Dubai hotel to the Lahbab camp, we can quote it on WhatsApp.

How do I pay?+

Cash AED at the camp, all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card link sent on WhatsApp. Tabby split-payments are not always available on dirt-bike rentals - confirm in chat.

Can I share the bike with a friend?+

Each session is one rider per bike. If you and a friend want to swap mid-session, please book back-to-back slots so each rider gets a proper safety briefing and skill check.

Is the KTM 450 hard to start?+

Our fleet 450s have electric start, so a button press handles ignition. The skill is in clutch release on uneven sand from a standstill - that's part of what we cover in the briefing. If you stall on a steep climb, the brief explains how to roll back safely and re-launch without hurting the clutch.

Do you run sessions in the rain?+

Sand absorbs light rain quickly and rides surprisingly well for the first hour after a shower - actually grippier than dry sand. Heavy rain or active sandstorm conditions are a stop call. The team makes the call on the morning of the booking and offers a reschedule or refund per the service rules.

Can I rent dirt-bike gear like boots or knee braces?+

Helmet, goggles and gloves are included with every rental. Motocross boots, knee braces or chest protectors are not part of the standard kit - bring your own if you have them. We strongly recommend boots for sessions over 1 hour.

Do you provide transport from the city?+

Hotel pickup is not standard on dirt-bike-only bookings - we keep the price clean by skipping the transfer. If you want a private 4x4 from your Dubai hotel to Lahbab and back, we can quote it on WhatsApp - usually cheaper than three Uber rides for a small group.

How early should I arrive at the camp?+

Aim to arrive 25-30 minutes before your slot. That gives you time for paperwork, gear fitting and the safety briefing without rushing. Arriving exactly on time means a shortened ride.

Can my partner watch from the camp?+

Spectators are welcome at the camp area as long as numbers stay sensible. They cannot enter the riding zone or follow the line. We have shaded seating, water and basic restrooms at the briefing area.

Is there a deposit on top of the rental?+

We do not advertise a fixed cash deposit on the standard rental rate - it depends on the booking format and is explained in the WhatsApp confirmation. For private convoys and longer custom days we may hold a card pre-authorisation as security; nothing is charged unless damage or rule violations occur.

Can I get a discount for a long booking?+

Standard 30/60/120-minute slots stay at the published rate. For half-day, full-day, or multi-rider custom days we routinely quote a discount on the per-bike rate. Send your group size and target duration on WhatsApp for a written quote.

Do you teach kids on dirt bikes?+

We do not teach children on dirt bikes. The KTM 450 is an adult-only machine. For children aged 9-12 who want to ride, we run a dedicated kids quad-bike (Yamaha 90cc) on the same dunes - that is the right starting point for young off-road riders.

Are the bikes road legal?+

No. The KTM 450 SX-F is a competition motocross bike and is not registered for road use in the UAE. Riding takes place exclusively on approved sandy desert areas under guide supervision. Attempting to ride on public roads or highways ends the session immediately and may carry a fine.

Will I get a video of my ride?+

A simple WhatsApp photo is included as standard. A professional video shoot (drone, multiple angles, edited clip) is an add-on quoted on top of the rental. If you bring your own action camera we are happy to mount it on the helmet provided the clip is secure - check with the guide on arrival.
