RAK
Dune Buggy.
Self-drive Polaris RZR 1000cc, Polaris Turbo, Can-Am Maverick X3, and flagship Can-Am X3 RS Turbo RR on RAK interior desert. Quieter routes than Lahbab, mid-size dunes, mountain backdrop on some sections.
Dune Buggy on RAK terrain.
RAK interior desert offers a quieter dune buggy alternative to Lahbab without the long Liwa drive. Mid-size dunes, decent line-of-sight runs, fewer machines per session. Some routes give you the Hajar mountain horizon as backdrop — an aesthetic the standard Dubai dune-line can't match. Same fleet as Dubai sessions: Polaris RZR 1000cc, Polaris Turbo, 4-Seater Polaris, Can-Am Maverick X3, Can-Am X3 RS Turbo RR.
RAK buggy works well as a 'next-step' for guests who already did Lahbab and want the same machines on different terrain without committing to a full day at Liwa. Plan half-day minimum.

How we price.
RAK trips combine multiple landscapes — the inputs below shift cost most. Each quote is built around your specific combination, not a price list.
- Group size (1-4 vs 5-8 vs 9+)
- Pickup origin (Dubai vs RAK city vs other emirate)
- Tour duration (half-day vs full-day vs overnight)
- Activity mix (mountain / desert / coast)
- Season (peak Nov-Mar vs shoulder vs low Jun-Aug)
- Date type (weekday vs weekend vs UAE national holiday)
- Add-ons (zipline ticket, camp upgrade, photographer)
Where we collect.
- Dubai hotels (Downtown, Marina, JBR, Palm, Business Bay)
- RAK hotels (Al Marjan Island, Mina Al Arab, Al Hamra)
- Dubai International Airport (DXB)
- Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT)
- Sharjah / Ajman / Fujairah hotel transfers (route-dependent)
Pickup is part of the quote — no separate transfer fee. RAK is closer than AD: ~1h15min from Dubai Marina to RAK desert, ~1h30min to Jebel Jais base or Wadi Shawka trailhead.
Day structure.
RAK days run shorter than Abu Dhabi expedition days but longer than Dubai dune-line sessions. Pickup window typically 07:00–09:00 for half-day, 14:00–15:00 for evening sessions. The Dubai-to-RAK transfer leg runs ~1 hour 15 minutes — short enough to be relaxed, long enough that early starts pay off in cooler conditions on summer dates.
On arrival the briefing covers the specific terrain. RAK desert sand structure differs from Lahbab — slightly more rocky inclusions, mid-size dunes with reasonable line-of-sight runs, mountain horizon visible on certain sections. Lead-guide rides front, sweep guide rides back, group size 2-8 typical per convoy. Briefings cover throttle/steering technique appropriate to the terrain you'll be riding that day.
The ride itself runs 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on package. Photo stops happen on demand. Mid-session water and shade breaks are scheduled. RAK's mountain horizon means hero photos look different from Dubai — guests often request more stops here for the mountain/desert frame composition.
Drop-off returns to your pickup location. Most guests build a single landscape into the morning and a contrasting landscape into the afternoon — buggy + Jebel Jais, or quad + Al Marjan beach, or safari + Wadi Shawka. The landscape variety is what pulls guests back to RAK as their preferred multi-landscape Dubai day-trip option.
When to ride, what to expect.
RAK desert sessions run under the same DTCM-licensed operational standards as Dubai and AD trips — certified guides, helmet supply, roll cage on every buggy, lead-guide convoy structure. RAK terrain has occasional rocky inclusions Lahbab lacks, so briefings emphasize line discipline and reading the dune surface. Group pace adjusts to the slowest comfortable rider.
Season multiplier across RAK landscapes: November to February is peak across all four (mountain, desert, canyon, coast). March-May and September-October are shoulder. June-August moves desert sessions to early morning + late evening only; Jebel Jais runs comfortably year-round (mountain stays 8-12°C cooler than coast); Wadi Shawka pools hold cool through summer; Al Marjan runs year-round with resort comfort.
What to bring: passport ID (UAE residents may use Emirates ID), closed-toe footwear for buggy/quad/hike, sunglasses, sun-protection layer, refillable water bottle (1.5L+ for half-day, 2L+ for full-day), swimwear if Wadi Shawka or Al Marjan included, and a light jacket if Jebel Jais summit is on the day's plan (summit sits 8-12°C cooler than the desert below).
