Quad Bike 220cc
The entry adult quad. Automatic 220cc Yamaha with calm throttle response — built for first-timers, riders 13 and up, and anyone wanting to try a real dune line without the punch of a 400cc.
Why pick the Quad Bike 220cc.
The Yamaha 220cc is the bridge between the kids 90cc and the full 400cc fleet. Power is enough to climb a moderate dune face but the throttle stays linear and predictable — first-timers can lift off and walk up to speed without the surprise of a turbo kick. Suspension is forgiving on small whoops, the seat is low enough for short riders to flat-foot at a stop, and the chassis tracks straight on flat sand.
We pair the 220cc with the smoother Lahbab dune lines — gentler grades, wider corridors and a guide who paces your group. Riders aged 13 and 14 need parental approval at the camp; from 15 up it's a standard self-ride sign-up.
What the ride feels like.
Throttle response is gentle. Lift off the line and the 220cc walks up to speed without surprises — exactly what you want when you're learning where to plant the wheels on a 30-metre Lahbab dune. The lead guide rides ahead and calls line choice; you follow at a comfortable pace. Most riders are riding their own line by minute 10.
Best for.
Right rider profile
First-time adult riders. Teenagers 13+ stepping up from kids quads. Travellers who want to try desert quad biking without committing to a high-power machine. Pairs and groups where one rider is a confident bike person and the other has never ridden.
Where it runs
Lahbab smoother dune lines. Suitable for short Big Red detours on the 1-hour and 2-hour packages with the guide's approval. Not recommended for the steep upper Big Red faces or Fossil Rock loops — those need a 400cc Turbo or bigger.
