▸ Operator's stance on insurance

Why we don't claim 'all-coverage'.

Buggy Ride Dubai does not market 'all-coverage' or 'insurance-bundled' coverage on any silo. Self-drive desert vehicle operations sit under standard rental rules, not under all-encompassing insurance products. Claiming insurance coverage we don't actually have on guest's behalf would be misleading.

What we do provide: helmet, goggles, and gloves at the launch site, roll cage on every buggy as factory-standard equipment, lead-guide convoy structure, pre-session safety briefing, ongoing vehicle maintenance, and DTCM-licensed operations. These are the operational standards that reduce risk during the activity.

What we don't provide: third-party medical insurance for the guest, comprehensive damage-protection product for vehicle losses caused by guest error, blanket liability for incidents arising from inherent activity risk. These sit with the guest's own travel insurance or personal insurance arrangements.

▸ Rider responsibility

Riding safely, respecting the briefing.

Self-drive sessions are rentals for the booked window. Riders accept responsibility for: following the lead-guide's pace and direction, riding within their experience level, respecting the dune-section boundary, abstaining from alcohol or drugs before and during the session.

Riding outside the convoy or beyond the briefed dune section is at the rider's own risk. Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs invalidates any third-party insurance the rider may hold and is grounds for immediate session termination at the rider's cost.

Vehicle damage caused by rider error (rolling the buggy, hitting a sand obstacle off-route, mechanical damage from misuse) is the rider's responsibility under standard rental terms. Repair cost recovery follows the operator's published damage matrix shared at the briefing on request.

▸ Recommended traveller insurance

Travel + adventure coverage.

International travellers: travel insurance with adventure-activity coverage is strongly recommended before the UAE trip. Most standard travel-insurance products cover medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and lost belongings; adventure coverage adds protection for off-road vehicle riding, balloon flights, and similar activities.

UAE residents: confirm with your existing motor insurance, travel insurance, or comprehensive personal insurance whether the booked activity (off-road dune buggy, quad, dirt biking, balloon) is covered. Standard motor insurance typically does not cover off-road recreational riding; confirm explicitly.

Insurance providers worth checking: regional providers like AXA, Allianz, RSA, Oman Insurance plus international providers (World Nomads, Allianz Global, etc.) typically offer adventure coverage. Read the policy fine print for the specific activity name.

▸ Briefing acknowledgement

What you agree to before riding.

Pre-session briefing is mandatory for every guest before the self-drive segment starts. The briefing covers: vehicle controls (throttle, steering, brakes), terrain technique, lead-guide convoy rules, hand signals, emergency stop procedure, age and licensing requirements, dietary or medical conditions to flag.

Acknowledging the briefing (via verbal confirmation to the lead guide, or via signature on the rental agreement for some bookings) confirms: you have received the safety information, you understand the inherent activity risk, you accept the rental rules, you accept that vehicle damage from your error is your responsibility.

Briefing refusal: guests refusing to acknowledge the briefing cannot ride. The booking is treated as a no-show under the cancellation policy; full booking value retained.

▸ Incident handling

What happens if something goes wrong.

Minor incidents (rider stalls, gets stuck in soft sand, minor fall): lead guide and sweep guide assist immediately; standard recovery procedure within 5-15 minutes. No medical evacuation needed in most cases. Session continues if the rider is comfortable.

Significant incidents (rider injury requiring medical attention, vehicle damage requiring recovery): operations protocol routes the rider to nearest medical facility (Dubai medical infrastructure is excellent and accessible), and the operator coordinates with the guest's emergency contact. Cost recovery via the guest's insurance.

Major incidents (very rare): full emergency response. Rider safety is the priority. Subsequent investigation by the operator and DTCM as applicable. Operator transparent about findings and any process changes resulting.
