About this buggy

Why pick the 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc.

The 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc is the gentlest way to taste Dubai's red dunes without the price tag of a flagship Can-Am. The 999 cc engine delivers a calm, predictable 110 HP through an automatic CVT, so first-time drivers can focus on dune-cresting line choice rather than gear selection. Rides start at a 30-minute slot from AED 600 — the lowest-friction way to try a dune buggy in Dubai before stepping up to a longer ride.

Couples on a tight schedule book this one most often. The cabin is roomy enough for a passenger to film with a phone, the seats are bench-style with full harnesses, and the lead guide rides ahead at a pace your driver can comfortably follow. If you have never driven off-road before, this is the buggy our team recommends.

Ride experience

What the ride feels like.

Acceleration, climbing capability, comfort, and recommended terrain — written from real ride data, not marketing copy.

Throttle response is linear. Lift off the line and the buggy walks up to speed without the surprise turbo kick of the higher-spec models — exactly what you want when you are still learning where to plant the wheels on a 30-metre Lahbab dune. On flat sand the chassis tracks straight and the soft suspension soaks up small whoops without throwing your passenger around.

For dune climbs the 1000cc handles rolling and medium ridges confidently. Steep faces such as the upper sections of Big Red are not its territory — pick a Turbo or a Can-Am Maverick X3 for those lines. Photo stops are encouraged on every loop; tell the guide and the convoy holds for two minutes while you climb out for a shot. Hotel pickup applies on 1-hour and 2-hour bookings; the 30-minute ride meets at our Lahbab desert camp.

FAQ

Common questions.

Vehicle-specific answers from past riders.

Is this buggy beginner friendly?
Every 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc ride starts with a 15-minute safety briefing, helmet fit, and a guided lead-driver convoy. The transmission is fully automatic and the throttle is gas-and-go. Beginners are routed onto smoother dune lines until the team is happy with their pace.
How many people can ride in this buggy?
The 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc matches the seat count in the specs above. Drivers must be 18 or older with a valid passport ID. Passengers must be 12+ accompanied by a guardian on multi-seat buggies. We do not allow children under 12 on dune rides.
Which duration is best for a first-timer?
For a first ride on the 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc, most clients pick the 1-hour slot — long enough for a full Lahbab dune circuit plus 1–2 photo stops. The 30-minute slot suits time-pressed visitors. The 2-hour slot suits experienced riders who want a deep-desert loop or the Fossil Rock detour.
Is hotel pickup included?
Free hotel pickup and drop-off across Dubai is included on the 1-hour and 2-hour packages. The 30-minute slot meets at our Lahbab desert camp, around 40 minutes south-east of Downtown Dubai.
Do I need a driving licence?
No driving licence is required to drive the 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc on our private dune routes. You must be 18 or older with a valid passport ID. Our buggies are operated only on approved sandy/desert areas — never on public roads.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes are required (loaner pairs at the camp). Wear lightweight breathable clothes; avoid loose scarves or open sandals. We provide goggles, helmet and gloves. A bandana or buff is useful in summer.
What happens if I damage the buggy?
All 2-Seater Dune Buggy 1000cc rides are covered by our rental agreement, which guests sign at the camp. Damage from misuse, rollover, collision, running off approved sandy/desert routes, or late return may be chargeable per the rental terms. The team explains the rules during the safety briefing — there are no surprises.

Drove the Can-Am Maverick X3 out at Lahbab and it felt brand new — no rattles, sharp throttle, and the guide kept a proper pace up the dunes without ever losing sight of us.

Booked the evening safari with my in-laws and the BBQ camp exceeded expectations. Fire show and belly dance were a genuine highlight, not just filler.

Sunrise balloon flight was the calmest hour of our whole Dubai trip. Pickup was on time even at 4:30am, which I honestly didn't expect.

Took the 2-seater Polaris RZR for a 1-hour ride, first time ever driving anything off-road. Briefing was thorough enough that I stopped being nervous within ten minutes.

Our kids did the quad biking 90cc track while we took the Raptor 700 — genuinely worked for a mixed-age family group, nobody was bored or scared.

Camel ride at JBR beach with the skyline behind us made for the best photo of the whole holiday. Handler was patient with my grandmother getting on and off.

KTM 450 session at Lahbab was exactly what I wanted — real dune riding, not a padded beginner loop. Guide pushed the pace once he saw I could handle it.

Four-seater buggy fit my whole family for one price, which saved us from booking two separate 2-seaters. Guide was patient teaching my teenager the controls.

Second time booking with them, this time the deluxe balloon package with the falcon show after landing. Breakfast spread was better than most hotel buffets.

Morning desert safari with the ATV add-on was the right call for us — cooler temps, shorter day, and the quad section broke up the drive nicely.

Never driven anything with a roll cage before. The Can-Am X3 RS Turbo RR was a lot more buggy than I expected in the best way, big grin the whole ride.

Sunset camel ride photos came out stunning, the light at that hour on the dunes is unreal. Worth timing the booking around golden hour specifically.

Yamaha 220cc quad was a great entry point for my wife who's never ridden anything before. Guide stayed right behind her the entire 30 minutes.

Private morning safari meant no waiting on other tourists, driver adjusted the route based on how much dune bashing our kids could actually handle.

2-hour Can-Am ride out to Fossil Rock was worth every extra dirham over the shorter slot, terrain out there is completely different from Lahbab.

Group of eight of us booked the multi-buggy convoy for a friend's bachelor weekend, lead and sweep guides kept everyone together without slowing the fast riders down.

Booked the Big Red location specifically for the steeper climbs and it delivered. Not a ride for a first-timer but exactly what an experienced group wanted.

Cancelled once due to a flight change and got a full refund with zero hassle since we gave more than four days notice. Good sign of how the whole business runs.

Al Qudra location was noticeably gentler than what friends described at Lahbab, made it the right pick for my first ever buggy session.
