The Can-Am Maverick X3 is the buggy that converts most riders into repeat customers. The 154 HP Rotax delivers power with a measured Swiss-watch character — there is no sudden turbo spike, just a wide, useable band that makes every climb feel within reach. The 64-inch wide-track chassis is the real story: it shrugs off side wash on a steep face, stays composed at speed, and gives the photographer in the passenger seat a far steadier platform than any narrower buggy.
Couples upgrading from a 1000cc, photographers chasing dune-portrait shots, and intermediate riders graduating from our Turbo all gravitate here. It is also the easiest premium buggy for a confident first-timer — the suspension forgives small line errors that would unsettle the flagship X3 RS Turbo RR.
What the ride feels like.

Off the line the Maverick walks up to speed crisply but without the elbow-jerk of the flagship. Throttle modulation is intuitive — a quarter-pedal will hold a steady 60 km/h on flat sand, full pedal will cleanly carry you through the soft mid-section of any Lahbab line. Long-travel suspension means the whoops between dunes turn into a sequence of soft thuds rather than the spine compressions you sometimes get on smaller buggies.
Photographs from this car come out the cleanest in our fleet. The wide stance keeps the cabin level, the cockpit is big enough for elbow movement, and the colour palette of the X3 (orange / black / chrome) plays well against red sand. Lahbab is the obvious choice for golden-hour shots, but the Maverick handles Big Red mid-faces and the Fossil Rock 2-hour loop just as well.

Rental agreement summary
- Dune buggies are operated only on approved sandy/desert areas — never on public roads or streets.
- Guests must follow guide instructions and the safety briefing at all times.
- Damage from misuse, rollover, collision, off-route driving, or late return may be chargeable per the rental agreement.
- Drivers must be 18+ with a valid passport ID. Passengers must be 12+ with a guardian.
- Closed shoes required. No flip-flops or open sandals (loaner pairs available at the camp).
- Safety gear (helmet, goggles, gloves) and guided briefing are included on every ride.
